1. Overview

Clapr is a release calendar for movies and TV shows. This page explains what information we collect when you create an account and use the app, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we store:

  • Your name and email address
  • A securely hashed version of your password if you sign up with email and password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • If you sign in with Google, basic profile info (name, email, avatar) provided by Google, and a token that lets us keep you signed in

When you use the app, we store:

  • Releases you add to your watchlist
  • Titles you mark as watched and the date you marked them
  • Reminders you set for upcoming releases
  • In-app release notification history and read status
  • Custom lists you create and the releases you add to them
  • Messages you submit through the contact form

When you ask Clapr to find nearby cinemas, your location is used only to complete that search. Clapr does not save it to your account or database.

Cinema favourites and small interface preferences—such as dismissed install prompts— stay in your browser's local storage. They are not attached to your Clapr account and can be removed by clearing this site's stored data.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

  • Google OAuth:If you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in, Google shares your basic profile info with us. We don't see or store your Google password.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile:This is used on our login and signup forms to verify you're not a bot. Cloudflare processes a small amount of technical data (like your browser and IP) to do this; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Places and OpenStreetMap: When you request nearby cinemas, Google Places is used first. If it is unavailable, Clapr sends a location rounded to approximately one kilometre to an OpenStreetMap search provider. This happens only after you choose to use your location.

Movie and show listings themselves come from third-party data sources and don't involve your personal data.

Resend delivers account emails and contact-form notifications.

4. What We Don't Do

No selling, no ads

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't show ads or use tracking/advertising pixels.
  • Your watchlist and reminders are always private to you. Custom lists are private by default too, unless you turn on sharing for a specific list yourself (see below). We never share anything without you choosing to.

4a. Sharing a List

You can optionally turn on sharing for any custom list you create. Doing so generates a private link that lets anyone signed into Clapr who has that link view the list. They can never edit, add to, or delete it. Only you, as the owner, can. You can turn sharing off at any time, which immediately invalidates the link. We don't publish shared lists anywhere or make them discoverable. Only someone with the exact link can view one.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you want your account and associated data deleted, contact us and we'll remove it.

Contact-form messages are retained for up to 180 days so we can respond and investigate reports. Expired signup, email-login, password-reset, and abuse-prevention records are removed by automated maintenance. Abuse-prevention records contain a keyed identifier, not your raw IP address or email address.

6. Your Choices

Account & Data Controls

  • You can remove items from your watchlist, watched history, reminders, or lists at any time.
  • Removing a release reminder stops future notifications for that release.
  • You can request account deletion via the contact page.
  • If you signed up with email/password, you control that password; if you used Google, you can revoke Clapr's access from your Google account settings.
